This is Daffy Apple's secret crunch topping that has had people buying Daffy Apple caramel apples for over 50 years!  The crunch topping is a slightly sweetened corn-cereal non-nut topping.

1 lb. of crunch makes around 35 caramel apples using apples that have a net weight of 3 oz. and are about 2¼ to 2½ inches in diameter.
